KAREN BOURIS

For more than three decades, Karen Bouris has championed mission-driven organizations, campaigns and people in service to the arts, environment and social justice. Currently at SEED Collaborative, she is a Senior Consultant and Director of Innovation & Partnerships focusing on the practice and implementation of belonging, bridging and Targeted Universalism. Prior to this, she was a Senior Advisor at the Othering & Belonging Institute at UC Berkeley, where she directed the CEOs Advancing Racial Equity & Belonging (CAREB) program with john a. powell, organized around a sustainable multi-racial democracy, among other projects. She has also been a belonging and racial equity coach and consultant to foundations, corporate leaders and nonprofits. Previously, she has been a founding executive director, designed national campaigns for movement building, collaborated on policy initiatives, led startups, produced an award-winning documentary, live events and media assets, served on boards, and been an author, book publisher and magazine editor-in-chief. She’s a graduate of UC Berkeley and current participant in the year-long Strozzi Embodiment Leadership Training. A mother of two adults, Karen lives in the San Francisco Bay Area.
