Working Towards a World Where Everyone Belongs
Seed Collaborative works alongside people and organizations to transform structures, systems, and culture toward equity and belonging for all.
Our History
Seed Collaborative, LLC, was founded over a decade ago by a group of friends and colleagues, Paul Hudson and john a. powell as partners, joined by Founders Evan Holland, Michelle Lathan and Tara Taylor.
Seed was founded to operationalize and bring into practical application the theory and frameworks developed by john a. powell and the Othering & Belonging Institute at UC Berkeley–specifically the work of Targeted Universalism to advance justice, equity and belonging. Seed’s expertise lies in translating this framework and others into real-world application and implementation.
A Black-owned and women-led firm, Seed has served over 250 mission-driven institutions, including municipalities, government agencies, nonprofits, philanthropies, academic institutions, the healthcare and education sectors, and businesses. Working side by side with clients, Seed seeks to achieve justice, fairness, and belonging in outcomes, operations, and organizational cultures. Originally founded in Los Angeles, Seed now has additional hubs in the San Francisco Bay Area, Austin, TX, and Brooklyn, NY.
